16-week Taming the Bear: Taking the bite out of stress course

Getting to the Root of Stress:

 How much time and money have you spent trying to decrease your stress, improve your health, or find inner peace?   Most people find lasting, meaningful change difficult: but you don’t have to. You have within you a deep inner knowing that can function like your own personal life coach. It knows how to help you solve all of your problems…if you just know how to connect with it.

Taming the Bear: Taking the bite out of stress is a 16-week stress reduction class designed to help you learn how to prevent your stress response before it happens.

You will learn how to reduce your stress by learning how to tap into your deeper knowing, free yourself from limitations, and really live the life your soul came here to live.

  • Physicians estimate that 70-90% of doctor's visits are for stress-related conditions?
  • Our bodies cannot distinguish between a viable and perceived threat? This means our bodies trigger our stress reflex to any perceived or actual physical or emotional threat.

How do you deal with stress?

Stress is an unavoidable fact of life but you don't have to live with the negative consequences of it! Taming the Bear is a unique class that teaches participants to prevent their stress response before it happens. To stay healthy, you have to learn how to recognize your individual stress response and then learn new skills with which to approach stressful situations. This class will help you change your response to your environment so you will handle stressful situations differently. Psychological and emotional stresses can become challenges, curiosities, or opportunities to learn.

By learning how to keep psychological and emotional stresses in the mental arena, you can deal with most life situations and maintain your body’s healthy balance. When you learn specific, practical skills (such as those taught in this class) and you practice them so much that they become second nature, your body can stay relaxed and do its job even as your mind navigates the potential stressors of daily life. Keeping your body relaxed encourages it to maintain its natural health and vitality.

Class structure:

Taming the Bear: Taking the bite out of stress meets weekly for 16 weeks.

Our classes are designed to allow you the time you need to make a meaningful change in your life. A weekend class or evening seminar can give you good ideas, but then it falls on your shoulders to actually integrate these ideas. 

A weekly class, such as Taming the Bear: Taking the bite out of stress, provides continuing opportunity for practice and deepening your understanding of fundamental concepts. The concepts taught in the class may sound easy, but experience teaches us that it takes diligence and commitment to learn how to apply them skillfully and effortlessly.

Class size:

Each class has a maximum enrollment of ten students. The small group format allows plenty of individualized attention and encourages personal accountability and participation. Regular homework assignments keep the class momentum alive throughout the week.

Curriculum:

The provocative concepts presented in this class were derived by Steven M Hall, MD, founder of Integral Medicine Associates, during his 30+ years of clinical practice focused on helping people get to the root cause of their health concerns. Extensive study of healing modalities and philosophies from around the world inform his work. The course is both practical and formative. Change happens organically on a fundamental level as people work through the process of applying the seven tools of healing to their lives.

It is exciting to be part of a cohort group where people are finally making the changes they have longed to achieve for years. The process is contagious. Group members support each other and model change for each other in ways that give us permission to make our own changes.

Instructors:

Dr. Hall and his associates have all ‘done the process’. Each instructor brings their own life’s work of group facilitation and healing to their class. And they have all incorporated the Seven Tools into their daily lives. They speak from experience.

Grace Porter, MA, LCPC has been a lifelong student of Dr. Hall and holds a Masters in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Grace Porter is a psychotherapist in private practice in Annapolis, MD. She is an associate of Integral Medicine Associates and has been personally trained by Dr. Hall to teach this class. She brings her own experience with the tools as well as her 7 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist helping people create lasting change in their lives.

Cost:

The class costs $1800 when paid in full at the first class. Installment plan available if needed. 

A non-refundable deposit of $400 is required to hold your seat in the class.
